help reading a vacuum guage?
i installed a vacuum guage in my 1965 chevy suburban with a 283cuin motor. i am getting extremely poor mileage. at idle it is reading 12hg, and when i step on the gas pedal it jumps to 18hg, then drops to 0hg when i let off the pedal. i have a chart that, if i read it correctly, says i have late valve timing. the stats on my vehicle are as follows: 283cuin v-8, 1978 th350 trans, and 3:73 gears. can somebody help me interpet this? thanks i goofed and wrote out the readings wrong. the readings are as follows: 12hg at idle, jumps to 0hg when i step on gas pedal, and it goes to 20hg when i let off the pedal. sorry i wrote it out wrong. i checked the compression last year, and it was good in all cylinders. also, the motor is out of a 1963 chevy biscayne 4 door sedan, with a powerglide trans. i know the hp and torques are different between the truvk 283 and the car 283, so that may be part of the problem. i had this motor given to me,and in the interest of looking original, i had it rebuilt to stock and put it into my truck. i have an intake from a 66 283 with the vac por drilled into it, so i may swap out intakes, but i'm also lo0oking at putting a 350 back into it, only this time it will be from a truck, so i can tow with mine. i know my truck is heavy, as with all american vehicles from the old days, so i think i need an engine for it. thank you to all of you who answered, and it's hard to decide who gave the best answer, but if i could i would go with all 3.
how much is a 94 impala ss worth?
so, i have a 94 impala ss with only 6,000 miles on it, it's been sitting in a garage for the past 17 years. my dad bought it drove it for a few months then never driven it again. since it's been in the garage, all the liquids and fluids have been drained out the car. in 2004 he's died so the car has never been registered past this date, since it's not on the street. how much do you think it would be worth. we've recently put all the fluids and liquids in the car and it runs perfect. to be exact the miles on the car is 5,632 miles. the interior is still perfect and so is the paint.
